This past week we did hay between the rows of our cider orchard. This type of agroforestry is called alley cropping. It maximizes land use and both, our trees and hay, seem to mutually benefit. At the cidery, we ran out of Plum Dry and Rhubarb but next up is Aronia berry, which should be ready for next weekend. We also picked some of our blueberries to try in cider. Always experimenting with what we grow here on the farm. Our next UPICK opportunity will be Aronia berries, probably in August.
